For several decades, the cosmetic industry has been interested in the reconstitution of a formula from two compartmentalized steps. Freeze drying of active ingredients has been the principal means of compartmentalizing one of the steps. This type of procedure requires the use of two stoppered vials, one housing the lyophilisate or powder and a second with the solvent to dissolve the lyophilisate or powder. The consumer applies the product using the second vial.
